Brendan Doherty 5th At National Cross Champs In Glencullen

Brendan Doherty Took a superb 5th place today in the M40 event at the Irish National Cross Champs in Glencullen Adventure Park, Dublin. The race was dominated from start to finish by multi national champion Robin Seymour but Brendan showed great form early on getting himself from the fourth row of the grid to second place by the first half of the opening lap. He continued to battle and hold on to second place with Kevin Keane, Alan Bingham and Colm Mcgarvey for but was slowly pegged back by his chasers and after a pit change, which revealed a pulled back wheel, he slipped back to fifth place. He got back to fourth and had a great battle with McGarvey right to the end but McGarvey kept something in reserve for the last lap and got back his fourth place. An unlucky crash with a back marker and a broken spoke in the last quarter of the final lap sealed fifth place for Brendan a great result conidering a bout of illness all over Christmas.
